How the Sunset Finder works

Enter any city and TripDusk looks up its coordinates, then calculates tonight's sunset time in that place's local time, the golden hour (about the 50 minutes before sunset) and blue hour (about 30 minutes after), and the compass direction the sun will set toward. It also reads live cloud data to estimate how colourful the sunset might be, with a four-evening outlook.

What makes a good sunset?

The best sunsets need mid- and high-level clouds for the light to paint, plus a relatively clear horizon so the sun's colour can reach them. A completely clear sky is often plain, and total low overcast usually blocks the show. Learn more in golden hour vs blue hour and apps that predict a great sunset.
